Profit-Sharing Mug – Taxing the Effort

In France, even saving gets you punished.

A worker in blue overalls, sitting on a crate, clutches a pink piggy bank marked « my employee savings ». Facing him, a man in a suit — badge reading « Bercy », the French finance ministry — reaches out with a predatory smile: « You worked to earn that? Very good… now you're going to share it with the State! » His briefcase carries the motto in full: your effort, our revenue.

A gift for those who read their payslip with a calculator in hand: salaried staff on fixed-day contracts, works council reps, payroll managers, accountants, small-business owners. The kind of object you leave in plain sight on the day of the annual pay review.
