A woman in profile, eyes closed and eyelids gilded, emerges from a tangle of black and gold foliage. A large pale flower opens at her temple, metallic leaves run down her neck, and the paint drips in vertical strokes to the bottom of the design. No frame, no border: the motif sits straight on the ceramic and carries on into the white.

It is the softest of the three pieces in the series — the one that owes most to botanical illustration and least to graphic design.
